In inKONBINI, players will play as Makoto, a young student starting their first solo shifts at the local convenience store. Players will spend their shifts stocking shelves and conversing with regulars in a small town in 1990s Japan.

The demo for inKONBINI offers a glimpse at the game’s mechanics and narrative elements. In the demo, players will need to get the store ready for the day by stocking and front-facing items on the shelves. Players may even find items in incorrect places, such as bread in the refrigerator. If an item is incorrectly placed, customers may comment on it, which is a helpful way to remind players that something needs to be done without breaking the immersion of the game.

In addition to stocking items, players have the chance to have conversations with a shop regular. This will include helping them find items on shelves and also giving them friendly advice. In the inKONBINI demo, players can also go on “treasure hunts” for other shift workers who may have lost items or need help.

Players can complete the inKONBINI demo in under 20 minutes. While the demo is short, it does a great job of highlighting the management side of the game and the narrative. The inKONBINI demo is currently available on Steam.
