To build the base of the treehouse, start with 32 wooden slabs going around the trunk of the tree in the shape of a square. Place these slabs on the “top half” of the trunk blocks, so that other blocks can be placed on top of them later.

Now, place wooden fence posts around the perimeter of the base. Then, on each corner block, add two additional fence posts to each corner stack; this will hold up the roof. For the roof, use either the same wooden slabs as the base or a different color.

Fence posts are now around the perimeter of the square base.

Replace one of the slabs on the base with a trap door, and add ladders to make a way to enter the treehouse from the ground.

There is a long ladder going up the tree trunk that connects to a trap door.

Now, place functional blocks, such as a crafting table, smoker, furnace, and barrels, to replace parts of the tree trunk. This is a fun way to have important starting crafting objects, while also making the tree house feel less cluttered. Torches or lanterns can also be added at this point.

Lanterns are hanging from the treehouse roof, and crafting blocks are imbeded in parts of the trunk.

An optional decorative choice is adding more leaves and vines connected to the tree around the treehouse, as well as blocks such as beehives and other plants.

More leaves have been added to fill in the tree around the top and bottom of the tree house.

Once you build this simple treehouse, you can expand it and connect several houses across different trees. You can even go a step further and incorporate stone blocks to create different texture patterns.

An upgraded version of the tutorial tree house, this time using cobblestone slabs and walls on the corners of the base and gates instead of fence posts around the perimeter. The roof is also more staggered in the leaves.
