How to Build A Simple Copper Well in Minecraft

With new copper items added in the latest Minecraft Snapshot, adding a copper well is a fun way to get a weathered look in your next village.

To make the base, you will need 32 Cobblestone Blocks for the walls of the well and 24 Cobblestone Blocks for the floor. To create the base, place the blocks in a square shape with rounded corners.

The base of the well is now rounded out using copper blocks.

To round out this shape, you will then need 8 Copper Slabs and 4 Copper Bulbs. Place these on the outer edges of the well’s base (they should touch on a diagonal) on the corners.

Wooden fence posts are stacked on top of the inner 8 walls of the well.

The next step is to add railings to support the well’s roof. To do this, place 8 Cobblestone Wall pieces on top of the eight outer cobblestone blocks on the well’s base. Then, on top of each Wall, place a stack of three wooden fence posts.

The roof of the well can be a bit more customized pattern-wise, but for this build, I used 8 Copper Slabs (oxidized and regular), 4 Copper Blocks (oxidized & regular), 4 Copper Grates, 4 Wood Blocks, and 12 Wood Slabs.

Place the Copper Slabs on top of each of the Fence Post stacks, then fill in the space between them on the outer edge with Wood Slabs. Place the Copper Grates, Copper Blocks, and remaining Wood Slabs to make a pattern leading to the center of the roof. Fill the center in with the Wood Blocks.

To make the well look more like a well, place 3 Chains (Iron or Copper) near the center on the underside of the roof, and place a Cauldron beneath the chain to look like a bucket. Add a few shorter chains and attach Lanterns to add some light to the build. Copper Bars can also give the appearance of worn-out banners around the edges of the well.

The final step is to fill the well and cauldron with water using a Water Bucket and add a few more decorations. To finish off this well, I added a combination of Cobblestone and Copper Stairs around the well (4 of each block). In addition, Copper Golem Statues of various weathering stages make a great addition to the well.
