Gameplay in the Slime Heroes Demo
The gameplay in the Slime Heroes demo is great. You are prompted to play with a controller for the best gameplay experience when opening the game, which personally was fine with me. Exploring was easy, and combat was very smooth for a demo. I only clipped into the floor while running away once, and even then I didn’t need to use the respawn or unstuck options.
Gaining new skills and using them was also easy. Players can combine skills to create different combinations to help with combat. This greatly helps with slowing down multiple enemies when playing solo.
A Nostalgic RPG
The art style in Slime Heroes is reminiscent of early 2000s RPG platformer games like Spyro. The characters including the enemies are adorable and fun, and the levels are just as whimsical.
Character creation was fun, and I appreciate the color sliders in the color options. The music and ambient sounds work well with the areas you visit. Even the music and sound effects changes when you enter combat don’t abruptly hit you, everything is well balanced.
Final Thoughts on the Slime Heroes Demo
Overall I really enjoyed the Slime Heroes demo, and wish I was able to get a party together to test out the multiplayer options. The gameplay was simple, and the world and characters were fun. If you enjoy saving the world, platforming, and adorable characters you should give the Slime Heroes demo a try.
