Managing A Bookshop Has Never Been Easier

As far as gameplay goes Tiny Bookshop is easy to jump into. When the bookshop is open for business, most customers just walk in browse, and purchase books. Occasionally customers will require additional assistance when selecting books. Players then can offer recommendations, by clicking through short descriptions on each book they have in stock.

When the bookshop is not open, players can add decorative items they purchase from the newspaper or find at each location to their shop. Players also can customize the swatches on some of these items, once equipped. Decorative items also grant boosts to book sales.

Tiny Bookshop players can also customize how books look on their shop's shelves while stocking them. I felt this was a neat little bonus for management sim lovers like me. Being able to have as many customization options as possible, can make management sims more personal.

Accessibility in the Tiny Bookshop Demo

One thing I enjoyed finding in the settings of Tiny Bookshop while booting up the game, was the ability to change the color of each book genre's cover. There are Hue, Saturation, and Lightness color sliders, that players can use to change the color of each genre’s cover.

This is a great feature for customizing the aesthetic of your bookshop but also gives players the ability to make the game more accessible for their own needs. This setting also applies to the way text is highlighted when characters mention the genres they enjoy reading in text boxes. You can also change these at any point during the game.

A Tiny Bookshop gets the “ChromaGlitch Gaming While Parenting” seal of approval. I could play easily while multitasking, without any issues.

Cozy Vibes and Pretty Locations

The art in Tiny Bookshop is cozy and cute and is very easy on the eyes. The NPCs are very diverse, and while some look the same, it was nice seeing characters with disabilities and it makes the game feel more realistic. I may have yelled when I saw an NPC using a wheelchair could still get into my store like all the other NPCs.

The music and ambiance in Tiny Bookshop was calm and relaxing. The music fit with each area, and overall it added to the experience.

Final Thoughts on the Tiny Bookshop Demo

Overall I greatly enjoyed the demo for Tiny Bookshop, I didn’t want it to end. The gameplay was easy to jump into and come back to. The pacing of the game's “work days” was manageable, and kept the relaxing vibe of the game going. If you enjoy cozy management sims I recommend checking out the demo for Tiny Bookshop on Steam.
